Veracity OUTREACH PLUS extends PoE Plus 25 watt standard to dome and PTZ network cameras
Veracity, the leader in innovative IP connectivity and transmission solutions, has today announced the launch of OUTREACH PLUS which uses the brand new 802.3at PoE standard, or 'PoE Plus'. PoE Plus increases available power via CAT 5 (or higher specification) Ethernet cabling to 25 watts. This level of power makes it possible for high-power network devices such as IEEE 802.11n wireless access points (WAPs), PTZ cameras, external dome cameras demanding heating elements and even door interlocking systems to be powered via standard data cabling.
OUTREACH PLUS enables the link between a PoE switch and a
powered device (e.g. a network camera or WAP) to be extended by 100
metres - so adding one OUTREACH PLUS enables a connection to be
doubled from a maximum of 100 metres to 200 metres. OUTREACH PLUS
offers a 100BASE-TX Ethernet repeater with automatic PoE forwarding
and Ethernet connection with no user configuration.
Security installers have been frustrated by the restriction of only
offering a maximum of 100 metre Ethernet cabling runs to network
cameras when they are used to being able to lay 300 metre lengths
of coax to CCTV cameras. Veracity's OUTREACH family of products
eliminates that problem while simultaneously distributing PoE to
reduce new camera installation costs considerably. OUTREACH works
by simply connecting it in line with the Ethernet cable to restore
the network data and intelligently forward power to PoE devices.
Multiple OUTREACH devices can be connected to extend Ethernet
connections, with or without PoE, up to 1000 metres.
OUTREACH PLUS is compact (105mm x 42mm x 20mm), wall mountable and
self-configuring. It can be used with Veracity's OUTSOURCE PLUS
injector for extension of PoE Plus and is compatible with many
other high-power PoE standards.
Alastair McLeod, managing director, Veracity UK Limited,
commented:
"OUTREACH PLUS extends the family of PoE extenders to network dome
and PTZ cameras as well as wireless access points that demand more
power than Class-3 PoE (13 watt maximum) can deliver. OUTREACH PLUS
is great news for the installer community which is already facing
heavy demand for wider application of PoE to cut installation
costs."
For further details on OUTREACH PLUS please email Veracity UK
Limited or go to www.veracityuk.com. Veracity products are also
available from a number of national and international distributors
including Norbain, Anixter, Black Box, ADI in some territories and
Harco in the Middle East. They also sell via specialist online
stores such as Network Webcams.
Veracity will be demonstrating this and its full range of connectivity products at IFSEC at the Birmingham NEC, 11-14 May 2009, Hall 4, stand number H100
Notes to editors
The PoE Plus standard will be ratified by IEEE during 2009. For
further information please go to www.ethernetalliance.org. To
receive a Veracity white paper entitled 'Power without the
struggle' please contact Miles Clayton on 01992 587 439 or email
